WHS Values and Player Expectations

The Wakatipu Way: What a Great Sportsperson Does was developed in 2022. It sets out how the school values in the Ākonga Profile apply in a sporting environment. It describes what a great sportsperson does on the field or court, and in school, in terms of our values of excellence, respect, responsibility, resilience and inclusion.

It was developed with the 2022 Sports Council, and it was valuable to hear from our student athletes how they see the school values showing up in sport.

Coaches are given this document so students are held accountable to these expectations in their teams.

WHS Vision for Sport

Growing better people through sport and active recreation.

The Vision for Sport was developed in 2020 with students, staff, parents and the community. It is a key contributor to the WHS Ākonga Profile and drives decision making in sport. The vision process showed how important the holistic value of sport is to a wide range of people, and how powerful a role sport can play in creating a positive culture in our school.

Student Code of Conduct

The WHS Student Code of Conduct applies to all students who represent the school in sport.
