Junior English
Junior English at Wakatipu High School encompasses Years 9 and 10 where students will continue to develop their skills, knowledge and understanding of language in all its varieties: written, spoken and visual. Being a confident and competent language user is one of the most valuable skills students can have. The focus in Junior English is on the engagement with, and enjoyment of a wide variety of texts and the development of skills and confidence in the two interconnected strands of Listening, Reading, Viewing; and Speaking, Writing and Presenting. The Year 9 and 10 programmes encourage enjoyment, breadth and variety. Students will be exposed to a balance between the study of local literature (New Zealand) and the wider heritage of English and World Literature. |
